Want to try a  hairdresser expert in all kinds of cutting, styling, colour, waving, streaks, and even problem hair? The answer is Woman hairdressers: a very modern and artistic salon, in the heart of Amiata, managed with experience, empathy and great knowledge by Valentina Santi.

We get girls (and boys, as this is a unisex salon) and adults at the salon: “Before the session – Valentina explains – we talk a little and from the interview we understand the desired cut or colour. Then we proceed: the important thing is that the final result reflects the personality of the customer, who comes out excited and satisfied”.

The reference product line at Woman hairdressers is Davines: “It is a really excellent range – observes the hairstylist – produced in Italy and it boasts meticulous attention to the content, offering natural and at the same time effective ingredients for all types of hair, moreover it is environmentally friendly, thanks to completely biodegradable packaging”.

A fundamental service offered by the salon is hair analysis: “during the consultation –Valentina continues – we always ask if there are problems with hair loss, sensitive skin, sebum, itching, irritation, dry skin or loss of density; thanks to hi-tech equipment we are able to identify the anomaly, and the diagnosis is very fast”. In a maximum of ten minutes the response arrives: on the basis of which we recommend the type of treatment, and the hair, in short, returns to being shiny, giving a feeling of energy, vigour and well-being to the scalp”.

The salon is modern and contemporary: “we designed it to create a comfortable, welcoming and clean environment”. Entering, in fact, one perceives an important choice of detailing, the eye is attracted everywhere by beauty and art, by virtue of numerous paintings hanging on the walls.

Valentina is supported by her expert mother Luana (to her the merit of having transferred the passion to her daughter), Gloria, who has been working in the salon for some time and has accumulated many secrets of the trade, and Alice, the latest arrival in order of time. Together they create a professional and close-knit team that guarantees maximum customer care.

But how did it all start? “Around the age of twenty – says the owner – I decided to undertake this path, and after school and numerous courses, I started my own business, improving my working techniques more and more. I opened in 2007 and today it is a place that I feel is mine, shaped on the basis of my initial dream”. Meanwhile the customer base  has expanded, “coming from all over the district, they know that here they can find the best, we offer quality, experience and professionalism, and we are careful down to the last detail”. It is a job that requires attention to fashion: “we are always up to date and attend numerous professional training courses around Italy”.

As for safety, given the times: “every customer has their own sterile disposable kit, and with the pandemic the precautions have further increased”.

The Art Hotel Lucerna, a window on the world (and the Tyrrhenian Sea)

A historic and ground-breaking Riviera hotel, the Lucerna was founded in Castiglione della Pescaia in 1958 by Nello Raffi, Laura’s grandfather. In the same year, just think, that the famous Riva del Sole hotel opened. It was in 1972 that her parents Gino and Brunella started working so much there that the young Laura spent her youth here, breathing the air and life of the hotel in the management work as well as in the extraordinary ambience of encounters and acquaintances with the legendary characters of the time.

I Due Cippi, the school of meat

The great knowledge of traditional products and old-fashioned recipes here offers unique dishes with true flavours that enrich the menu with originality and refinement. All raw ingredients used are carefully chosen and selected with attention to their source of origin  ̶  in the first place the succulent Chianina meat which, depending on the season, is accompanied by very high quality ‘side dishes’ such as porcini mushrooms and local truffles.

A friendly place for cycle touring

“The Castiglionesi Trails are about 100 kilometres of paths in the depths of nature that connect the coastal area with the Castiglionese hinterland  ̶  explains Enzo Riemma, president of the Maremma Experience Consortium  ̶  making use of bike professionals, our associates, and folk from the Associazione Albero delle Idee who have been engaged in these activities since since 2013 in collaboration with the municipal administration we believe we can make these routes more usable for cycling tourism lovers.”
