The Festival delle Nazioni, a historic and prestigious event that this year reaches its fifty-eighth edition, returns to Città di Castello from 28 August to 12 September 2025 with which a new design phase opens. This year’s Festival is dedicated to France, a country that becomes the leader of the future programmatic lines that in ’26 will flow over Germany and the countries informed by Germanic culture, to arrive in 2027, the sixtieth year of the Festival’s life, at a great look at the whole of Europe.
The important event in Città di Castello this year will raise the curtain with Oscar winner Nicola Piovani (28 August) who will celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Canticle of the Creatures of St. Francis with an evocative composition, and will end (12 September) with Rachel Portman, also an Oscar winner, for the soundtrack of the film Emma – after having gone through the most varied artistic paths, with the major protagonists of the international scene, including Richard Galliano (31 August), Federico Mondelci (1 September), Alessandro Marangoni (7 September), Michel Bourdoncle (11 September), Massimo Quarta (9 September), Vanessa Gravina (6 September), Rita Marcotulli with a tribute to the cinema of François Truffaut (3 September), the Ensemble Suono Giallo (30 and 31 August), I Solisti Veneti with Massimo Mercelli (12 September), and many other news.
The cultural path of the Festival is reconfirmed as wide-ranging, intertwining internationality and territorial artistic heritage on which particular attention will be paid. The history of the ‘French cousins’ will be retraced but also of the ‘Frenchisms’ that have always influenced Italian culture and art and vice versa. The French post-war period will also be explored, between experimentation and a return to order, covering all genres and languages of art, to reach the contemporary era.
