We address a theme that has so far been little present in these columns but concerns almost everyone: the relationship between business and bank. In this area there is someone who takes care of making sure that everything goes well, Studio Fabio Bonari. Starting from Tuscany, they bring their experience throughout Italy, guaranteeing the highest standards of reliability and achieved objectives. “Preparation, analysis, study, business plan, adequate communication are the obligations that companies must scrupulously comply with today.”
The firm, which is located in the center of Castiglione d’Orcia and is easily accessible, deals with professional consultancy for companies in the financial and business fields: “It is a sector that has evolved a lot in recent years, following the introduction of automatic evaluation systems for companies, ratings and new regulations such as Basel 2 and 3 the core business of the firm concerns, precisely, the relationship between bank and business”.
Fabio comes from a long banking background, many years of experience in banks in the credit sector: “when a company arrives,” he explains, “I am able to understand and determine ‘the outfit it has’, that is, whether or not its rating can be financed through the use of sophisticated and dedicated software that must be present in the firm.”
Usually, it is the accountants themselves who “pass” the company to the Firm: “certain decisions – he continues – are delegated to us, who have the delicate task of analysing the company aseptically with the gaze of the third party and on the basis of data and experience advise and/or make decisions”. A fundamental role: “Often companies call when they are responsible for obstructive reports, problems related to invoices not paid on time, trespassing in the Central Credit Register that lead to a hardening of the bank’s attitude and behaviour; Unfortunately, there are technical aspects that the entrepreneur, caught up in a thousand problems of business management of the daily bureaucracy, tends to procrastinate, but unfortunately the relationship with the bank must be taken care of and followed on a daily basis and deadlines and credit lines cannot be postponed”.
Fabio is also specialized in agricultural credit, and companies in the Val d’Orcia, and beyond, make use of his experience: “Once upon a time,” he continues, “the director and customer would be at the bar for a coffee and perhaps on the occasion with a handshake the credit line resolution was granted. Today everything has changed. The bank-company relationship is managed by computer procedures whose decision-making grids are automated and are decided by the bank in full autonomy at any time depending on whether it intends to widen or tighten the purse strings, based on its monetary policies and, from one month to the next, everything can change”. At the moment, the credit market is stuck waiting for changes at the regulatory and procedural level: “the guarantee of mediocredito, where the State guaranteed the company, will probably disappear…” this element could lead in the future to a further rigidity of the system towards the granting of new credit. Another fundamental segment in the modern relationship between bank and business is the business plan to be delivered to credit institutions: “we intervene when there is an anomaly or trespassing to be explained; Today the software says “reliable or unreliable”, in the first case there is no need for human intervention because it means that “all the dots are green” and you can proceed, we intervene in the presence of any “orange or red dots”, in short, we try to make the company financeable through detailed projects also developed in this case with the help of specific and dedicated software».

Another branch of Studio Bonari concerns the search for subsidized calls for subsidized loans and/or contributions: “we have the opportunity to access a national structure, where we are subscribers, which reports to us on a daily basis the outgoing calls, divided geographically, by economic area to which the beneficiary belongs, region, province and municipality, if they correspond to certain needs, we contact the customer and prepare the application both in terms of company documentation, economic and financial plan and all the required attachments; It happens that in order to meet delivery times you have to work beyond the allowed hours to ship them on time, but correctness and precision is appreciated and customers come back».
The Firm works with the body shop, with the craftsman, with the small entrepreneur and with small and medium-sized enterprises: «sometimes they call for unpleasant situations, such as insolvency with banks or the Revenue Agency, then the activity consists of acting as an intermediary between the debtor and the creditor for the negotiation and the dispute in order to limit the damage for our client; for this type of activity and also for the others we work throughout Italy, from Palermo to Aosta, the first meeting usually takes place with a video-call, but then follows a visit to the company by the customer. Then customers, knowing the beauty of the area, appreciate a visit to the office on site to combine work with a visit to Bagno Vignoni, Pienza, San Quirico, Amiata, beautiful areas and we also accompany a nice lunch».

The human side remains the essential aspect: “many entrepreneurs and I too,” he concludes, “get excited when we manage to support them; And the best thing is the phone call where you can say after countless difficulties that every assignment involves ‘oh, it went well!'”.
