Christmas lights up in Città di Castello: until January 6 we will have a surprising, beautiful, welcoming and bright historic centre that will be set up on a theme. We are talking about 50 events to experience the holidays together and in joy throughout the territory, with traditional classics and appointments in the name of entertainment, art and culture. Let’s start with the Walt Disney parade and the Christmas lights, together with the Nativity Art Exhibition and the skating rink.

There are many new features in the “Christmas in the city” calendar presented by the Councillor for Commerce and Tourism Letizia Guerri and the Councillor for Culture Michela Botteghi, together with the president of the Pro Centro Consortium Flavio Benni and the manager of the Commerce and Tourism sector Emanuele Mattei. Squares and streets in the heart of the city set up with red carpet at the entrance to each activity and green areas embellished with fir trees and plants, with the idea of recreating an immersive and fairytale atmosphere, also thanks to new decorations, but also projections on the façade of the cathedral in Piazza Gabriotti, thanks to the availability of the Diocese of Città di Castello.
Events never seen in new locations, such as the Santa Claus village with the markets in Piazza delle Tabacchine until 24 December, many events for families, entertainment, exhibitions and concerts, but also the great classics of tradition in Città di Castello, from the descent of the Santa Clauses in a canoe on 25 December to the New Year’s Eve in Piazza Matteotti on 31 December, ending with the Flying Befana of the Fire Brigade on 6 January.

The XXIV International Exhibition of Nativity Art is underway with over 170 works on display; walking through the city you can admire the scenic Christmas tree in Piazza Matteotti, stop for a few shots at the Christmas Bus in Piazza Gabriotti and launch yourself on the ice skating rink of over 250 square meters in Largo Gildoni, open until the Epiphany.
“We will experience Christmas with an extraordinarily wide offer, capable of involving people from the town and tourists of all ages”, underlined Councillor Guerri this morning, speaking of “a calendar that for the fourth year brings together Tourism and Culture and has been built together with the community and for the community, focusing on the places dear to the people, in which there will be many initiatives and many good reasons to meet and share the Christmas spirit. In addition, for the first time there will be signage that will guide visitors to discover the initiatives with stable installations in the squares and main streets of the historic centre and piped music will return”.
“Christmas will also be an opportunity to share the beauty of our history and our art,” said Councillor Botteghi. “‘Summer in the city’ and ‘Christmas in the city’ are calendars built on the protagonism of our cultural resources: for this reason,” she pointed out, “in addition to the preview of Nuvolo Centenario, which will accompany us throughout 2026, there will then be exhibitions in the Pinacoteca by Paolo Camevari (until 15 February) and by Alessandro Bruschetti in the Event room (from 12 December), the prose season with the shows at the end of the festivities of 7 (“Le volpi”) and 11 January (“L’Operetta Scugnizza”).
To underline the satisfaction for the organizational work carried out was the president of Pro Centro Benni, who highlighted: “Making the historic centre at this time of year festive, welcoming and alive is a goal that we have set ourselves and for which we have dedicated commitment and determination, driven by passion and love for our city. A planning work that began months ago, the realization of which was possible thanks also to the fundamental collaboration and availability of the entire municipal administration”.
