Each project is unique, and arises from the deep connection between the place and those who live there. This is the spirit that has animated Archidomus for more than twenty-five years, the architecture and design studio founded by architects Monica Rossi and Claudio Cencetti, which since 2000 has created some of the most prestigious works in the area.
This time the Studio has accepted a new and stimulating challenge on the Argentario promontory: to transform old disused volumes into a prestigious residence, capable of surprising for its comfort and elegance. Thus was born a new concept for a seaside residence, designed as a system of connections between spaces and unique views. “With this project,” says architect Monica Rossi, “we decided to create a widespread building, in which all the rooms were interconnected to form a single residence. The villa is developed through a succession of interconnected spaces, camouflaged by dense vegetation and exposed stone walls that faithfully follow the elevation profile of the place.”
The residence is experienced through open and closed spaces, in a continuous path that enhances the visual and material link between architecture and landscape. The large glass walls amplify the dialogue between inside and outside, contrasting their lightness with the massive materiality of the stone walls typical of the area, in a refined play of contrasts between finishes and colours.
The studio has taken care of every single aspect of the work, designing spaces, details and furnishings, and entrusting the creation of numerous tailor-made solutions to the wisdom of expert local craftsmen. “Matter and colours are the basis of the project” – explains the architect – “for this reason we have dedicated great care to the selection of stone, terracotta and iron elements capable of enhancing the identity of the place“. The result is a harmonious alternation of spaces for relationship and relaxation arranged on terraces, embellished with travertine staircases bordered by walls and finishes produced ad hoc, such as handmade terracotta treated with natural colours. Also in this project there is the original approach of Archidomus, one of the few architectural firms capable of coordinating the entire process of realization of the work, from the general conception to authorizations, to the executive design and the management in the execution of the works, down to the smallest detail of the furniture and design.
