Once again this year, as tradition dictates, the enchanting village of Greve in Chianti will host the Chianti Classico Expo, scheduled from September 11 to 14, 2025. This unmissable event welcomes wine lovers, curious visitors, and industry professionals who—through tastings, talks, art, and live performances—will have the chance to immerse themselves in the vibrant heart of Tuscan wine culture. Every edition draws thousands of visitors, both Italian and international, who come to experience an authentic journey made of flavors, traditions, and stories to hear—and above all, to taste.

First launched in the early 1970s as the “Grape Festival”, the event has evolved over time while staying true to its roots. Over the decades, it has changed name and format several times—becoming the “Wine Market Exhibition,” then the “Chianti Classico Showcase,” and finally, since 2010, the “Chianti Classico Expo”, with a more international flair.

What has never changed is its spirit: celebrating the region’s iconic wine and sharing the identity of a land defined by quality and beauty.

Today, the Expo is a well-organized, multifaceted event that blends technical sessions—including guided tastings by sommeliers, conferences, and workshops—with convivial moments designed to engage families and younger audiences as well.

Over 60 stands are set up in the scenic Piazza Matteotti, where local producers present their wines with pride and passion, sharing the story behind each bottle.

Complementing the experience is the Chianti Classico Consortium Pavilion, where visitors can taste wines from producers who do not have a stand of their own—offering a broad and representative view of the entire denomination.

Over the years, the event’s layout has found the perfect balance between elegance and rustic charm: wooden gazebos, natural materials, white canopies, and colourful signs guide visitors through the various UGAs (official geographical units), helping them navigate the many expressions of Chianti Classico. But what truly sets this event apart is the direct presence of the winemakers themselves—true ambassadors of a craft rooted in expertise, dedication, and a deep love for the land.

Alongside the wine, there will—as always—be other local highlights: typical products of Chianti’s gastronomic tradition, local crafts, live music, art exhibitions, performances, and activities for children. The goal is to make the event increasingly inclusive and cross-generational, capable of speaking to diverse audiences united by a desire for an authentic experience.

Following the huge success of the 2024 edition, which celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Chianti Classico Consortium and the 500th anniversary of explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano’s voyage, the 2025 edition promises just as many new features and engaging content. It will be an opportunity to renew the deep connection between wine and territory, in an atmosphere where tradition meets innovation, with Chianti Classico as the undisputed star.
