There are three artistic events of the summer season organized by the ‘Casa degli Artisti’: ‘Comics and… Ceramics’ in Deruta (until 4 May 2025), the exhibition ‘Materia’ by Herbert Golser (12-30 June 2025) in Perugia – and the recurring ‘States of Art’: a journey between man and the environment in the ninth edition of the international exhibition at Villa Fidelia in Spello (26 July – 31 August 2025). Let’s find out together curiosities and details.

Deruta, one of the Italian capital towns of ceramics, is preparing to welcome an extraordinary event that combines tradition and pop culture. On Saturday 5 April at 6.00 pm, at the “Antica Fornace Grazia” Contemporary Art Center in the heart of the historic centre, there will be “Comics and… Ceramics – First national exhibition of ceramic works inspired by comic book characters”.

The exhibition, sponsored by the Municipality of Deruta and the Province of Perugia, is the result of the commitment of Mauro Mencarelli and the precious collaboration of Claudio Ferracci’s Biblioteca delle Nuvole, La Casa degli Artisti and the Committee of Deruta Artisans. An event that celebrates the encounter between artistic craftsmanship and the imagery of comics, giving rise to a fascinating dialogue between past and present.

Hundreds of works from all over Italy will be exhibited, including creations made by the students of the Art Institute of Deruta. Visitors will be able to admire pieces inspired by the great protagonists of comics, both Italian and international: from timeless icons such as Diabolik and Mickey Mouse, to Marvel and DC superheroes, up to the famous characters of Japanese manga, such as Lady Oscar.

The exhibition, with free admission, will remain open to the public until 4 May, with hours from Tuesday to Sunday from 9.30 to 12.30 and from 15.00 to 18.00. An unmissable opportunity for fans of comics, ceramics and for all those who want to discover a new way of telling pop culture through art.

The city of Perugia will host the exhibition “Materia” by the Austrian sculptor Herbert Golser, from 12 to 30 June 2025, hosted at the Sala Cannoniera of the Rocca Paolina. An unmissable event for art lovers, who will have the opportunity to admire the extraordinary works of an artist capable of transforming natural materials such as wood and marble into creations of rare beauty and grace.

The initiative, produced by the Cultural Association “La Casa degli Artisti” of Perugia in collaboration with the Rosenfeld Gallery in London, enjoys the patronage of the Province of Perugia and the Municipality of Perugia. The official inauguration will be held on Thursday 12 June at 6.00 pm, in the presence of the artist, the authorities and the organizers.

Herbert Golser, internationally recognized, is known for his ability to enhance the purity of natural materials, transforming them into works of art that invite contemplation. His creations do not convey explicit messages, but through their form and essence they manage to guide the viewer on a sensory journey to discover the intrinsic beauty of nature. His works are featured in numerous public spaces in Austria, Hungary and Italy, and he has participated in prestigious international projects, including “The Solo Project” in Basel. In 2021, his sculptures were exhibited at the Kunstraum Villa Friede in Bonn, Germany.

The exhibition “Materia” represents an important opportunity to discover the work of a master of contemporary sculpture, capable of challenging conventions and offering new perspectives on matter and form. Admission to the exhibition is free. Opening hours are every day from 15.30 to 19.00, with the possibility of visits by reservation.

Finally, from 26 July to 31 August 2025, Villa Fidelia in Spello will be the prestigious setting for the ninth edition of “Stati d’Arte – Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Contemporanea”. A long-awaited event, which every year attracts artists from all over the world to offer new and profound perspectives through the language of art.

The 2025 edition is inspired by a theme of great historical relevance: the link between man and the environment, on the occasion of the eight hundredth anniversary of St. Francis’ “Canticle of the Creatures”. A common thread that will run through the works and installations present, offering the public an artistic and cultural reflection on the relationship between the human being and the nature that surrounds him.

The exhibition is curated by Andrea Baffoni.

In addition to the main exhibition, there will be numerous side events and a series of thematic pavilions. Among these, a special tribute will be dedicated to the Umbrian Maestro Bruno Orfei, while one of the great novelties of 2025 will be the introduction of a new pavilion in the historic centre of Spello, designed to further expand the dialogue between art, history and territory.

More details on the participating artists and the full program will be revealed in the coming months. Meanwhile, this preview marks the beginning of a journey that promises to be, once again, a unique and engaging cultural experience.
